In only 43 years the population of the world has doubled from 3.5 billion to 7 billion.

Today, countries around the world are celebrating the birth of “7 billionth” babies. I don’t really see what is worth celebrating here. Being able to successfully reproduce is clearly not much of a challenge if you look that 7 billion number. However, it is nice to see that some questions are finally being raised about overpopulation and how sustainable population growth will be.

The good news is that the growth rate has slowed in recent years. But we are still are still expected to add another billion in just 14 years. With so much talk about conservation these days and the idea of saving energy and being green. Why not make the ultimate green choice and not reproduce?
