Despite being the 5th most powerful earthquake in recorded history, the anticipated reduction in global population today was a non-event. Chile is well equipped to handle earthquakes, so the loss of life was not the same as seen in Haiti.  We will be lucky if the death toll tops 1000. Chile is well equipped to handle earthquakes, so the loss of life was not the same as seen in Haiti.  We will be lucky if the death toll tops 1000.

We had strong hope for the tsunami that sped across the Pacific, but the waves just were not big enough to cause much damage.

Oh well, perhaps another day.

A magnitude 8.8 earthquake has hit Chile and tsunami was triggered and is travelling at 500 mph across the ocean, may possibly hit Hawaii.
